For the first time in a long time I’ve felt moments of switching off. They didn’t last very long and it was a curious feeling. And I really leant into that.
It seemed to coincide with swimming. I swam in my pool, and in the ocean when there was a heatwave in QLD.
And in the risk of sounding a bit woo woo it really did take me to the moment and grounded me. I definitely live in the future and am always thinking about what I have to do.
I’m currently addicted to two books. One absolutely needs to be a Netflix series (think Boy Swallows Universe, it is similar to that) and I found myself wondering back to that book and what the next page will reveal.
It’s called King Hit, by a local guy named Dean King from Tugun. I picked his book up from the local fruit market, and then bought 6 copies for my family for Christmas.
Remember you read it here first before you see it on Netflix.
If you’re into books you must get read this Aussie larrikin story; one of despair, triumph and hope.
The other one I’m obsessed by is The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. I didn’t realise how hard it is when you have a solution based mind to actually let them.
Here’s a little example. Today my girlfriend told me she’s going away for 4 days and she’s only taking carry on. Now my friend loves stuff, and she’s planning on going to the markets. Being an ex hostie and a traveller I know that carry on isn’t going to cut it for a 4 day birthday break. I had to repeat to myself 20 times, let them, let them, let them…
My daughter just bought her first flat and is sending me hideous pictures of rugs and furniture (haha). One was a white lounge. Now let’s just say my Charlotte loves anything with Napoli sauce...
So all my life my mantra has been to work on myself, and “let them” is proving more difficult than expected.
I’ve been loving this TV show called Landman. It’s way better than Yellowstone and makes me look forward to Mondays.
It takes me back to my teens when I’d wait for Melrose Place to drop on Tuesday night at 7:30. Yes I still remember.
While I was binge watching on Saturday I massaged a quarter bottle of Glory Oil into my neck and face (with a towel on my lap) and can I tell you the next day when I woke up my skin was sensational. It was so smooth, the oil gently exfoliated any dead skin layers off, evened my complexion, deeply moisturised, plumped my skin.
Don’t forget your lips and eyelids.
