Sonya's 2026 Ins and Outs

Sonya's 2026 Ins and Outs

IN: Treasure Hunting

My in for this year is to find more treasure. It might make me sound cheap but I found a lot of my Christmas presents from marketplace, things that I knew my family would really love. I’m looking for hidden treasures rather than feeling the pressure to buy from big luxury brands.

I found some gorgeous oil paintings. Some were as little as $20. You can gift beautiful treasures that you know people will love.

OUT: Black Coffee

I’ve given up. I’m going back to my small flat white on almond milk. Black coffee kills my gut. Garlic too. I’m not giving it up completely, but it does irritate my IBS.

IN: Green Juice

Green juice will always be in! Think celery, spinach, cucumber, apple, mint. That is life to me.

OUT: Gluten unfortunately (unless I’m in Italy, who knows then).

And also feeling guilty about not meeting my protein goals! I don’t think I’ve ever met it even one day.

IN: Ocean Swims

More swims. I normally do it twice a year. I love looking at the water but don’t particularly like to be in it. But every time I do swim I say I should do this more often!

IN: Weight training

Unless you’re a runner, the whole running world can seem a bit like a cult, but it’s a cult I’m proud to be a member of. The serotonins and endorphins can be addictive. I do get the runner’s high, but I’m 60 in 2026, and it just doesn’t hit the way it used to.

So this year I’m doing a bit less running, and more weights and arm workouts, and push ups, on my veranda (I’m not joining a gym).

I put on the same music I’ve listened to since the 90s. I’ve got a fixed mindset when it comes to music, don’t judge me! I want to be strong, I hate the feeling of getting weaker as I get older. I’ll be fighting all the way.

IN: Reading

I have started focusing on my nervous system (a little late). On a Saturday or Sunday afternoon I take to the bed and read a book before a delicious little nap. It’s my new ritual. I’m never without a book.

IN: Don't forget your decolletage!

While I’m watching TV, I like to massage Glory Oil around the eyes, face, and all down the decolletage. This helps stimulate blood flow and promote collagen, skin cell turnover and give my skin a rich drench of moisture. I also add a couple drops to my hand cream for extra soft hands.

IN: Boundaries

My boundaries are tighter than ever. Never apologise for who you are and who you like or don’t like. I don’t care if it’s your partner’s family or friends, if they give you the ick or something that doesn’t sit right with your integrity, it’s access denied to me.

To anybody that I don’t think is a good human. That’s not sitting in judgement of them, but when I don’t feel they are a safe person, it’s access denied with no apologies, no matter who they are. I won’t sit at a table where I’m not loved, respected, or valued.
