I’ve been a consistent tanner for years. Every Thursday night, tan in time for the weekend and week ahead so I can stay bronzed all year round. Then suddenly, at the ripe old age of 29 I became allergic to all tanning products I’d been using for years. Literally any tan now will make my eczema flare up, and I haven’t suffered with exzema attacks since I was 9 years old so to say it was a horrible shock is an understatement.
Anyway, to cut a long story short my doctor said I needed to either stop tanning, or find a really natural tan that doesn’t aggravate my skin. So the hunt began.
Now, I’ve used eco tan mousse before and we don’t really get along well. I just find the colour looks a bit strange on me, and I wanted to find something very nourishing for my skin.
And I stumbled upon hempitan. I was dubious about using a water based tan that sprays onto you at first, but I figured if anyone could work it out it would be me. So I followed the tips and tricks, and applied a couple of coats of the tan after exfoliating 48 hours before hand with the salt scrub, went to sleep that night and woke up GLOWING.
Now, firstly I’d like to note - this tan smells so nice. It does have a slight fake tan ish smell? But honestly they all do, and it’s not unpleasant by any means!
Also, it goes on completely transparent and non sticky. So you can chuck your pj’s straight on with no discomfort or yucky feelings, and don’t have to stress about getting the tan all over your white bedsheets.
Anyway, when I say I woke up glowing - honestly it was perfect. Streak free, seamless, and such a beautiful bronze colour that my friend messaged me later that night after she saw a photo of me that day at the beach asking if I’d been overseas. It’s such a natural looking colour!
I did miss a small patch on my leg, but I just sprayed a bit of the tan on there the next day and it disappeared within 2 hours and blended seamlessly with the rest of the tan.
I’ll be curious to know how long it’ll last, but I am an avoid crossfitter and runner, and it’s been really hot here in Victoria the last few days and so far even though I’ve been so sweaty - I haven’t lost any of the tan yet!
Worth every penny, and thanks for making something that’s good for my skin! Xo
