The rise of teens against animal cruelty

Younger generations & teenagers are becoming increasingly passionate about supporting Cruelty Free Organic Beauty Brands in the cosmetics industry.

Teens Support Cruelty Free Organic Beauty Brands

With the advent of social media, younger generations are taking it upon themselves to gather information about issues they are passionate about. Subsequently, a huge movement against animal cruelty has gained momentum. And teenagers are stepping up to support companies in the beauty industry and Cruelty Free organic beauty brands. Transparency has never been valued so highly in the cosmetics industry. Now a quick Google search can reveal who does and does not test on animals in a matter of seconds.

Sonya Supports Friends With Dignity

Friends With Dignity Charity is a cause close to Sonya’s heart

An exciting time in Sonya’s life is approaching – her wedding! In September, Sonya will marry her partner of six years surrounded by her friends and family.

During this period of planning, Sonya realised she wanted to give back, to the Friends With Dignity charity. Sonya choose a charity that supported those who were not so fortunate to be surrounded by boundless love.

Friends With Dignity is a charity that supports all victims of domestic violence. Their company mantra says that domestic violence does not discriminate, so neither do they; they seek to help every victim regardless of gender, ethnicity or sexuality. It is compromised entirely of volunteers who work with a network of refuge’s to support victims who have been displaced due to domestic violence. These men, women and children have to leave their homes due to fear. Often having nothing but the clothes on their back.

Our Good Return Sponsorship – Samang Chen

A cause close to our heart | Eco Tan Charity

Here at Eco Tan Charity, our mission is to do good in the world. For the environment, for our skin, for animals and, of course, doing good for others. Sonya is a big believer of reaping what you sow, and her strong Christian faith provides the backbone of her charitable nature.

Our latest charitable cause is sponsoring Samang Chen, a woman from Cambodia, through Good Return. Good Return is a not-for-profit organisation that allows people and businesses to provide microloans to those in poverty around the globe.

Coconut Deodorant – Is it a Smart Move?

Our organic deodorant creates a pleasant coconut scent & naturally allows your body to release toxins, whilst keeping you dry. Aluminium free!

Why would a tanning company make an organic Coconut Deodorant?

I know, I can’t help myself. If I can’t find an organic product that works, my mind just won’t shut down. My yoga friends tell me its my chattering monkey that tells me just make it! We have a few different products up our sleeves that might surprise some people and in the mix is the organic Coconut Deodorant!

Our unisex, organic Coconut Deodorant is BRILLIANT! It isn’t an anti perspirant that blocks your sweat gland with aluminium. It is vital that we let the natural toxins release from our body. We have all heard that antiperspirants are “linked”to Breast cancer.

Remembering Eco Angel Jess

Eco Angel Jess Ainscough

In November 2012, the beautiful Jess Ainscough was our Eco angel for the month. We we’re reading our interview with her and wanted to remember this beautiful soul…

Company Name: The Wellness Warrior

How you got started: I started TheWellnessWarrior.com.au as a blog to chronicle my experiences while healing from cancer naturally. That was about 2.5 years ago, and since then it has grown in popularity to now become a hub for all things health and wellness. It is a virtual sanctuary where I share my story, lessons, and healing info every day.

What brings you joy?

My little pug girl, my boyfriend, my family, reading brilliant books, being near the ocean, nature, raw cheesecake, preparing and eating amazing healthy food, connecting with my virtual family via my website, and so much more!

What is your style of Music?

I have a very eclectic taste in music – from laid back folksy stuff, hip- hop, dance, and especially old school stuff.

Do you have a book you could recommend to us?

I just finished reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed and it was brilliant! I’m also reading Pattie Boyd’s autobiography, Wonderful Tonight, and it’s great too. I love bios from that rock era.

Favourite destination?

The Sunshine Coast. I don’t think there is anywhere better than here!

Share with us a memory that makes you smile?

In 2009 I trekked the Himalayas with two of my friends. It was amazing. We saw the most magical sights and met incredible people. But it was the physically hardest thing I’ve ever done, and completing the trek was the first time I realised how much inner strength I have. This was also right before I was diagnosed with cancer for the second time, so it is one of my last wild and free experiences. A little while after that I started Gerson Therapy and threw myself into my healing regime.

Share a favourite saying with us…

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but by how we react to what happens to us, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life.

What’s being healthy mean to you?

To me, being healthy means making all lifestyle decisions from a place of pure kindness and respect for yourself.

Your favourite Certified Organic product?

Coconut oil!

One vitamin everyone should take?

B12 (the methylcobalamin kind)

The Paradise Kids Angel Appeal

AEco Tan Angel Appeal: our company supports many charities, but one of our favourites is the Gold Coast’s Paradise Kids

The Eco Tan team took part in the Paradise Kids Angel Appeal. This is an annual fundraiser to support more than 300 children dealing with grief, loss or illness.

Our staff wore white in the office and in the afternoon, Sonya and her children took part in the Angel Walk. This was held at the beautiful Southport Broadwater Parklands. They joined others who wore white and/or angel wings. And together, they walked through Southport, raising money to “help heal the heartache.”

What ingredients are you using on your skin?

True organic ingredients – do you actually know what you are using on your skin?

A lot of people out there think that they are using true organic ingredients in the beauty products they buy. But they aren’t… People are so often fooled by fake organic products, we’ve dubbed this term “fake-ganics“.

We’ve said it a million times before and we will say it again:

Did you know, our skin is our largest organ and a lot of what we put on it absorbs into our blood stream? That’s why more and more treatments are now available in patches! Understanding the ingredients is so vital to your health and overall wellbeing.

What we put ON our bodies is just as important as what we put IN our bodies. Sonya is just as passionate about using true organic ingredients in the beauty products she creates, as she is when it comes to the organic ingredients she uses in her Raw Organic Juicing!

Tips & Tricks to Success in Business…

Sonya Driver’s Business Success: Tips & Tricks

What I believe is… what you love to do is your calling.

You will naturally be good at it and you will instinctively know how to make it a business success.

So many people go looking for business ideas, I hear all the time, “I don’t know what I want to do.”

My answer is always: ”Well, what’s your passion? What’s your gift? We all have something”.

At the risk of sounding like a bragger, I am good at business.

Anyone’s business. I don’t know why, I can just see how to make it successful and what structures and models need to be put in place to make it a success.

I am driven to see other people succeed! It excites me.

I love the doers of this world and will extend myself to anyone that has the right motivation and when my gut feeling goes crazy!

My team, on the other hand, hates it because I spend many hours per week mentoring mainly CEO’S of all sorts of different businesses. I also genuinely like to do it for free (much to my accountants displeasure). The reason I don’t like to charge is because that way I don’t have to censor myself.

Skin Cancer

We urge you - have your skin regularly checked for melanoma skin cancer & practice sun safety. The statistics in Australia are frightening!

We can just get it burned off… We’ll be right.

Skin cancer is one of those cancers we sometimes tend to think “well we can just get it burned off. We’ll be right.” It’s really only the last generation that we really have taken sun protection seriously. We cover our kids with creams, no hats no policy in schools and so forth. A child of the seventies and eighties it was a different story. We covered ourselves with reef oil and I remembered always being in a competition with my girlfriends who could get the darkest tan. The funny thing is, my sister Rachel, never sun baked and was diagnosed with a melanoma skin cancer at age 30. She grew up in the northern rivers area which boasts the highest rate of melanoma skin cancer in Australia.
